The All Japan Judo Federation Medical Science Committee held a judo event medical support course in Osaka on 19 July. The session was designed for people involved in medical and first-response support at judo events.
The programme covered bleeding control, initial trauma care, and ways to move an injured athlete safely, including log rolls, spinal boards and scoop stretchers. It also addressed the roles and rules surrounding medical support at competitions.
Good event care is part of good judo. The work is often quiet and unseen, but a trained response team helps athletes, coaches and organisers manage difficult moments with greater calm and safety.
