The All Japan Judo Federation has introduced a support window and a series of video resources for women judoka, placing health, menstruation, weight management and recovery more clearly within athlete support.

The federation has prepared separate contact forms for female athletes, coaches and parents. The aim is to make it easier to raise questions that can be difficult to discuss in a normal training setting, particularly around physical condition and the demands of competition.

The accompanying short videos cover topics including menstrual information, health, safer weight management and recovery. Rather than treating these subjects as private issues outside sport, the initiative treats them as part of helping athletes train and compete sustainably.

For judo clubs and coaches elsewhere, the value of this approach is straightforward: good athlete support is not only about technical instruction and results. It also depends on listening, appropriate information and a training environment where athletes can ask for help early.
