The judo competition at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games concluded on 2 August after three days across fourteen weight categories. England finished at the top of the judo medal table with four gold, two silver and six bronze medals. Canada placed second with four gold and one bronze, while India finished third with two gold, one silver and one bronze.
Five lighter categories were decided on the opening day. Harsh Singh won the men's under-60 kg title for India, while teammate Asmita Dey took gold in the women's under-48 kg category. Canada's Julien Frascadore won the men's under-66 kg division and Evelyn Beaton claimed the women's under-52 kg title. Acelya Toprak delivered England's first judo gold in the women's under-57 kg category.
England added two more titles on day two through Ethan Nairne in men's under-73 kg and Kelly Petersen-Pollard in women's under-70 kg. Laurence Biron won the women's under-63 kg category for Canada, bringing the Canadian and English totals to three gold medals each after ten events. The men's under-81 kg category produced a major moment for Malaysian judo when Amir Daniel Bin Abdul Majeed defeated South Africa's Timothy Meuwsen in the final to secure Malaysia's first Commonwealth Games judo gold medal. Remi Feuillet won men's under-90 kg for Mauritius.
Final day champions
The final day on 2 August produced four more champions across the heaviest categories.
Canada's Kyle Reyes won the men's under-100 kg title, defeating England's Max Gregory in the final. The 32-year-old Reyes was the dominant figure in the category throughout the competition.
Giannis Antoniou delivered Cyprus its first gold medal of Glasgow 2026 in the men's over-100 kg category. The victory marked a historic moment for Cypriot judo at the Commonwealth Games.
England's Emma Reid successfully defended her women's under-78 kg Commonwealth title, having also won gold at Birmingham 2022. She became the first English woman to retain the Commonwealth judo crown in the division.
Sydnee Andrews of New Zealand won the women's over-78 kg gold medal with a decisive ippon against Cameroon's Richelle Anita Soppi Mbella. Andrews had won bronze at Birmingham 2022 and upgraded to gold in Glasgow.
