Indian judoka Arun Kumar has been withdrawn from the 2026 Glasgow Commonwealth Games after an out-of-competition doping test returned an adverse analytical finding for an anabolic steroid.
The test was conducted by India's National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA). Kumar, who competes in the men's under-73 kg category, has been provisionally suspended and is ineligible to compete at the Games.
Kumar had been considered a rising talent in Indian judo and was expected to be a contender in his weight class. His withdrawal reduces the size of India's judo contingent and adds to a difficult run-up to the Games for the country's delegation.
The Indian Olympic Association has not issued a detailed statement on the case. India's judo team is also dealing with the unresolved luggage incident, in which several athletes' judogis and training gear were lost by an airline during their journey to Glasgow.
Judo competition at Glasgow 2026 begins on Thursday 31 July at the Scottish Event Campus and runs for three days.
