The Kodokan has published the August 2026 issue of its monthly judo magazine. The table of contents covers a wide range of topics reflecting the institution's ongoing work in education, history and technical development.
The issue opens with a reflection by Kazuhiro Mikami looking back on sixty years of involvement in judo. The Kodokan spring red-and-white contest features prominently, alongside an article on further developing the Kodokan dan-grade system.
Technical education is represented through a report on Kodokan kata seminars held in Bosnia and Herzegovina, a kata study session in Tokyo, and the second instalment of a text for dan-grade examinations. International activity is covered through a brief report from the international department.
Historical content includes archival material from the Kodokan magazine collection, featuring writings by Kano Jigoro on youth cultivation and entertainment, as well as a study on the history of judo techniques. A report on a conference held at the Kodokan on the history of Japanese physical education and sport is also included.
Competition coverage includes the Ulaanbaatar Grand Slam 2026, the All Japan Corporate Team Judo Championship and the All Japan Student Judo Championship (75th men's and 35th women's edition). The issue also previews the September edition.
