Ticket sales have opened for the 2026 World Judo Championships in Baku. The International Judo Federation announced on 3 July that the communication campaign for the Baku World Senior Championships 2026 has begun, with tickets now available for the event.
The championships will take place in Baku, Azerbaijan, from 4 to 11 October 2026. According to the IJF competition page, the individual events are scheduled from 4 to 10 October, with the mixed team competition to follow on 11 October.
The individual competition programme begins with the men’s -60 kg and women’s -48 kg categories on 4 October. The remaining weight categories will follow day by day, ending with the men’s +100 kg and women’s +78 kg categories on 10 October. The mixed team event will bring the championships to a close on 11 October.
The official ticketing platform iTicket.AZ lists the National Gymnastics Arena as the venue. The ticket page shows eight sessions from 4 to 11 October, with prices ranging from 5 to 150 Azerbaijani manat. Daily sessions are listed from 10:00 to 19:30.
The World Judo Championships remain one of the most important events in the sport outside the Olympic Games. In the early stages of the Los Angeles 2028 cycle, the 2026 edition in Baku will carry added importance. Athletes will not only compete for world titles, but also for world ranking points and positioning in the long road toward Olympic qualification.
For Hong Kong judo readers, the World Championships may feel far from the local competition scene, but the event remains a key window into the direction of international judo. Results in Baku will influence rankings, Olympic qualification momentum and the structure of the World Judo Tour in the months that follow.
