Hong Kong and Macau will host back-to-back Asian youth judo events in July, giving young athletes in the region a compact run of international competition. The Hong Kong events will take place on 18 and 19 July, followed one week later by the Macau events on 25 and 26 July.

According to the IJF, the Hong Kong Asian Cadet Cup 2026 is scheduled for 18 July and currently lists 118 athletes from 12 countries and regions. The Hong Kong Junior Asian Cup 2026 will follow on 19 July, with 132 athletes from 13 countries and regions currently listed.

Macau will then host the same youth categories the following weekend. The Macau Asian Cadet Cup 2026 is scheduled for 25 July and currently lists 119 athletes from 13 countries and regions, while the Macau Junior Asian Cup 2026 is scheduled for 26 July and currently lists 182 athletes from 15 countries and regions.

This kind of back-to-back schedule matters for youth development. Young athletes do not only learn from a single contest. They also learn how to prepare across multiple competition days, manage weight, recover between events and return to competition with a clear mind.

For Hong Kong judo, the home event has value beyond hosting duties. With Hong Kong and Macau staging Asian Cadet and Junior Cups one week apart, coaches, athletes and parents can see the region as a meaningful youth judo circuit.
