Brazil finished at the top of the medal table after two days of competition at the IBSA Judo Grand Prix São Paulo 2026. The host nation collected six gold medals at an event featuring 142 athletes, including 63 women and 79 men, from 29 countries across five continents.
Brazil won four titles on the second day to complete the Grand Prix with six gold medals. Kazakhstan finished next with three titles, while Ukraine won two. Uzbekistan, Japan, France, Romania and Kyrgyzstan each claimed one gold medal.
Japan’s Kazusa Ogawa won the women’s J2 -70 kg category. She defeated Ayala Mereke of Kazakhstan in the final, while Melissa D. Haynes of the United States and Taylor Gosens of Australia took the bronze medals.
A total of 22 nations reached the podium, illustrating the growing depth of international para judo. The São Paulo Grand Prix was the opening ranking event of the Los Angeles 2028 Paralympic qualification period, with attention now turning to the continental championships in São Paulo.
