The Laval leg of the Kata World Series 2026 was held in Canada on 4 July. The International Judo Federation reported that 46 pairs from seven nations competed across junior and senior categories.
Hong Kong, China was represented by Lit Lok Yi and Chan Cheuk Chi in Kodokan Goshin Jutsu Seniors. The official result chart shows that nine pairs entered the preliminary round, with the top six progressing to the final. Lit and Chan scored 471.5 points to qualify second.
Canada swept the podium in the final. Ivan Fournier and Pierre Pelletier won with 504 points, followed by Allyn Takahashi and Tony Walby on 499.5, while Olivia Flemming and Abigail Flemming took third with 496.5. Lit and Chan scored 494.5 points in the final to finish fourth, two points behind bronze.
Canada topped the overall medal table with eight gold, six silver and five bronze medals. Kata is judged not through direct contest, but through technical precision, rhythm, distance, control, etiquette and the expression of judo principles. For Hong Kong, qualifying second from nine pairs and finishing fourth was a meaningful international performance.
