The Kodokan has published the table of contents for the July 2026 issue of its Judo magazine. It is not a breaking competition story, but it brings together several parts of Kodokan judo: high-dan practice, promotion, kata, youth development, seasonal training and the educational legacy of Jigoro Kano.
The issue opens with the Spring National High-Dan Judo Tournament. It also lists articles on dan promotion examinations, the Kodokan Judo text used for promotion study, regional kata seminars, international department notes, the 2026 Kodokan summer course and the summer training schedule.
Rank as a record of learning
Many people first encounter judo through competition and the black belt. Within the Kodokan tradition, however, rank is connected to technical understanding, years of practice, character and responsibility. Placing the high-dan tournament, promotion examinations and study materials together gives readers a clearer view of that pathway.
The contents also include the All Japan Judo Kata Competition, the National Youth Judo Tournament, Kodokan monthly contests and promotion records.
